BAM Construction were tasked to build new, more modern facilities for Brompton Academy next to its existing site in Kent.
The new building is built around a large courtyard to provide easy access to external play and teaching areas for the students. The building is two-storey and features a double-height library with a curved façade visible from the street. The facilities include a science lecture theatre, drama theatre, sports hall and fitness suite and a dance studio as well as classrooms.
The academy was built to BREEAM Very Good rating and was built using high levels of acoustic and thermal insulation, energy efficient boilers and natural ventilation to minimise future energy costs.
Construction work began on site in December 2011. JCW Acoustic Flooring successfully supplied and installed acoustic flooring to a number of drama studios and classrooms at first floor level. The product specified was JCW Acoustic Deck 34 which is a cement bonded particleboard laminated to a resilient layer comprising reconstituted polyurethane foam and recycled rubber mat.
