Robust Detail FFT-4 resilient overlay platform floor systems can be used in E-FC-1, E-FC-2, E-FC-7, E-FS-1, separating floors.
The acoustic floor slab must achieve a minimum laboratory performance of rd∆Lw=17dB.
The mass of the proprietary platform system inclusive of resilient layer greater than or equal to 16 kg/m2 mass per unit area.
No services are to be installed within floor system.
A 5mm (min) resilient flanking strips is required around the perimeter of the flooring board to isolate the floating floor from walls and skirting.
As with any robust detail the correct external wall, separating wall internal wall and ceiling detail must be adhered to. The Robust Detail handbook should be consulted to ensure that the separating wall is compatible with the separating floor and vice versa. The Robust Detail checklist should be used to ensure that details are adhered to throughout each sequence of the build.
When installed correctly robust details such as Robust Detail FFT-4 should exceed the requirements set out in Part E of the Building Regulations.
With over 15 years of experience in installing all types of Robust Detail flooring solutions, JCW Acoustic Flooring have the knowledge and expertise to ensure that floating floors are installed correctly giving complete peace of mind.
Unfortunately, no.
The acoustic floor slab system should be fully sealed at all walls and skirting to ensure the floating floor is isolated, which provides thermal and acoustic insulation.
If services cannot be installed elsewhere, our range of acoustic battens and acoustic cradle systems offer excellent sound insulation and have plenty of space for the largest of service pipes and cabling.

Yes, the Robust detail FFT-4 resilient overlay platform and Stonefloor system have a wide range of applications. Which include, but are not limited to:
Due to its high compressive strength, the FFT-4 resilient overlay platform and Stonefloor system can support normal floor loadings, while maintaining the thermal insulation requirements outlined in Part L of the Building Requirements.
This system also reduces thermal bridging and wasted heat. Thermal bridges are weak points in the building envelope which allow heat to pass through to other areas, common in gaps in insulation layers, etc, so stopping this should reduce heat loss by a noticeable amount.

Absolutely it does!
As well as satisfying Robust Detail requirements, the Robust detail FFT-4 resilient overlay platform floor and Stonefloor system also adheres to Part L and Part E of the updated 2010 Building Regulations.
As you would expect from acoustic flooring, the Robust detail FFT-4 resilient overlay platform floor and Stonefloor system increases resistance to the passage of sound by increasing sound insulation.
It is compliant for:
Dwelling houses and flats, including walls, floors, and stairs in both New Build and Material change of use categories.
Rooms for residential purposes, including walls, floors, and stairs in both New Build and Material change of use categories.
Section 5 in Scotland for Airborne and Impact sound insulation.
This document outlines the standards for energy performance in new and existing buildings across the UK.
The Robust detail FFT-4 resilient overlay platform floor system does this by maintaining thermal insulation requirements and reducing thermal bridging, which can cause cold spots as heat moves outside of the building envelope.
This in turn should make it easier for building owners to retain the heat that they generate in their properties.

Our Robust detail FFT-4 resilient overlay platform uses JCW Stonefloor insulation which meets thermal, acoustic, and fire performance.
The Robust detail FFT-4 resilient overlay platform floor and Stonefloor system satisfies Robust Detail requirements, while also adhering to Part E and Part L of the updated 2010 Building Regulations.
The Stonefloor insulation also meets specific fire requirements.
It has been rated A1 when tested to EN-1350-1 using data from fire tests and can be used in conjunction with Flexi to construct a compartment floor that gives 1 hour of fire resistance.
Compartmentation is extremely important when constructing buildings as they make safe spaces that can slow the spread of fire, helping people to escape and stay safe.
